WUMC has an active and varied children’s ministry. Each Sunday before the worship service, there are Sunday School classes for preschoolers, elementary school-aged children, middle school and high school students. During each Sunday worship service, Brother Barry delivers a special children’s message related to the Scripture lessons for the day and to his message to the rest of the congregation. After this, the younger children through the first grade are invited to take part in children's activities outside of the sanctuary. WUMC also offers an open nursery in which babies and toddlers are looked after by volunteers from the congregation during Sunday School and during Worship Services.
Children’s activities also take place once each month usually after worship. This is a time for fun and praise—the kids play, hear stories, make things, sing and dance. Each month offers something different: the kids carve pumpkins in October, have a movie night in pajamas in January, and hunt Easter eggs in April. We organize a mission project each Spring geared towards children to deliver the message that everyone has something to offer, everyone can help.
Our summertime Vacation Bible School is an important focus of our outreach to the community. Many people get involved each year to make sure these five days are a fun and exciting learning opportunity for children that can bring them closer to God.
Join us every Wednesday night from 6:15-7:30 PM for Movie Night for our kids in the all purpose room. Snacks are also provided. We hope to see you there!
